10. Command Line Options
Before going into the details of batch processing and listing
fsc2's command line options a remark concerning the use of
several instances of
fsc2: Until version 2.4.0 only a single
fsc2 could be run. This limitation was deliberate
in order to avoid having different instances trying to access the same
devices at the same time. With version 2.4.0 this limitation has been
removed and devices instead are "locked" by an instance of
while using them, and another instance trying to gain access to an
already locked device will be notified and output a suitable error
message. Devices controlled via GPIB, LAN and serial ports as well as
devices, that are PCI cards, are locked individually (in the case of
GPIB devices by use of an extra program, the "GPIB daemon"
gpibd, in the other cases via UUCP style lock files). Devices
connected via USB (except USB-serial converters, which are treated
like serial port devices) and via RULBUS currently get locked as
groups, i.e. only one instance of
fsc2 can access USB or
RULBUS devices. This restriction may be removed in later versions.
